„Lithuania 1009“

1000 year ago Lithuania was the ‚terra incognita‘ of Europe. There is very little written materials from the times before the year 1000 about these area‘s. For archeologists it is still not clear where the name Lithuania comes from, for them it is still not clear where the different tribes came from and so on. This is rather strange if you look at it from a European point of view. Except for the area of Lithuania we know almost everything what happened in Europe in the first millenium. Somehow Lithuania was the ‚no go‘ area of Europe, a place too dangerous to enter.
The truth about areas around the present Lithuania is rather shocking: Lithuania was in the first millenium rather simular to the Warhammer world. There is a lot of proof for this theory:
- As people may know, Kaunas was founded by Romans somewhere in the 4th century. Recent archeological excavations showed that around Kaunas lived people who were very different from the other locals, and must have had a presence very simular to elves. Later these people started to live also in other areas of Lithuania.
- Some of these people were living in a area called Kurland. (Nowadays in Latvia) They were feared for there piracy. Even the Vikings feared them for their cruelty and cunningness. This tribe had a lot of simularity with the dark elves.
- Till now there are still a lot of legends about the gods the local inhabitants of Lithuania worshipped. Not for nothing Lithuania kept their pagan traditions much longer than any country around them.
- Lithuania has a tradition of chaos. Even till these times a lot of people believe that Chaos rules this country.
- It is well known that people who are gathering mushrooms are smaller than other people. In Lithuania there were tribed in the present area of Dzukija which mainly depending on gathering mushrooms. Through the centuries they became smaller and smaller and were well known for the long beards their men were wearing.
- Orkish behaviour is still in the genes of some Lithuanians. When they sit behind the steer of a car, they are riding in it like a snotling in a pumpcar
- But the biggest prove are about the undeads. Even now when archeologists are digging in the ground they are finding whole armies of skeleton‘s, sometimes complete with helmets, shields and swords.
This all changed when the German empire knights started to conquer these areas. After a few hundred years western colonists mixed up with some part of the local population. Other races where defeated and perished forever.
During this tournament we go back to the last days of the dark age of Lithuania. To the year of 1009 when Brunonas was sent by the emperor to visit these areas.
The battle begins................

Rules of the tournament:
Date: 7/8 November
Place: D6, Sv Stepono gatve 5, Vilnius
Size of Army: 2250 points
Army restrictions:
- No special characters (also no special unit upgrades like the changeling or Tularis
- Rare choices cannot be repeated (exception: High elves can take a second rare choice)
- Maximum 2 of the same kind of special choice.
- Not more than 9 power dice/ 10 dispell dice

You can use a maximum of 9 power dice in each magic phase. Each bound spell you use count as 1 power dice, all following bound spells used in the same turn counts as 2 power dice.

Every ability that grants the bearer complete knowledge of a single lore counts as one power dice in each magic phase.

All dice you would not normally generate, Skaven warpstones, night goblin mushrooms, power of darkness etc., also count in the total number of dice you can use in a magic phase.

Tomb Kings count the use of a spell as 1 power dice and casket of souls counts as 2 dice total.. The 2 basic power dice all armies get only counts if they are used to dispel RIP spells with.

Max 10 dispel dice per army. First dispel scroll (and similar working items) you have in your army counts as 1 dispel dice, in EACH magic phase. The second and all other scrolls, counts as 2 dispel dice in each magic phase. So if you have 3 scrolls you can use a maximum of 5 dispel dice each magic phase. Dice from magic resistance does count in this maximum. Being allowed to reroll your dispel dice counts as 2 dispel dice.

No Dogs of war, Storm of Chaos or other special lists.
-Registration: send your name, nickname (if any), name of army you want to play with to: info@d6.lt. After conformation you are registred. People who do register themself but do not turn up without giving notice can be expelled from later tournaments.
-Army lists should be send to info@d6.lt for checking between 28th of October and 5th of November. The organizers will print out a copy for themself.
-Every player must have: Dice, a copy of the rulebook, a copy of his armybook, a liner, templates, a copy of his armylist preferably movement trays.
-15% proxis and one proxi hero is allowed. Proxi model should be a Warhammer miniature on a simular base. (In case you need send a mail and we can see if we can lend)
- Conversions are allowed, but should be look alike to original one. In case of doubt, please ask the organisers in advance
- Not GW models with a simular look and an exact size of base are allowed.
- ‚What you see is what you get‘is not required.
- No clipping as mentioned in some errata.
- In case of cheating, the person in case can be dispelled from the tournament, and the battle will automatically result in a lost battle. (0 points)
- Admission fee: 20 lt

Five battles during two days.

10.50 – 11.00 Determinating first pairs, preparation for battle
11.00 – 13.45 first battle
13.45 – 14.00 Time to finish first battle, determintating second pairs
14.00 – 16.45 Second battle
16.45 – 17.00 Time to finish second battle, determinating third pairs
17.00 – 18.00 Break
18.00 – 20.45 Third battle
20.45 – 21.00 Finishing third battle, determinating fourth pairs

Day two
11.00 – 13.45 Fourth battle
13.45 – 14.00 Finishing fourth battle, determinating 5th pairs
14.00 – 16.45 Fifth battle
16.45 – 17.00 Finishing fifth battle, clean up the mess
17.15 Prices

Every battle lasts maximum 2 hour 45 min. In case after this time one participant had one turn less than the other oro ne player didn‘t finish yet than the following:
- The player who‘s turn it is at the moment the 2 hour and 45 min. period is over has still 5 minutes to finish his turn. After this the other player has 5 minutes to make his turn.
In case one of the players did not finish his turn after 2 h and 45 min. He still gets 5 minutes extra to finish his turn.
Point sistem:
Win with massacre: 45 points
Win with solid victory 40 point
Win with minor victory 35 points
Draw 25
Loss with minor victory 15 points
Loss with solid victory 10 points
Loss with masacre 5 points
Did not finish: 0 points


Painting: Every player can vote for the best painted army. For the winning armies will be separate prices.

Description of the battles

Battle nr 1 Tribal war
In the year 1000 tribal wars are common view. Everybody is fighting with each other. Nobody knows for what they are fighting. The best they can reach is capturing a Standard or slaying an enemy general.

Situation: Standard Warhammer battle with victory points calculated as mentioned in the rulebook.

Battle nr 2: Capture the castle mount
What is more fun than to capture a castlemount of the enemy. The only problem is that the tribes are so often migrating throughout the country that nobody knows anymore which castlemount belongs to who. For this reason tribes are building castlemounts everywhere (that‘s why there are so many castlemounts every where throughout Lithuania)

Two tribes arrive about at the same time at an abandoned castlemount. They both want to grab it. Who will be the strongest.

Situation: Standard Warhammer battle. Victory point calculation as normal. With the following exceptions: in the middle of the table stands a castlemount. Who occupies the castlemount after the battle gets 400 victorypoints extra. No victorypoints for tablequarters. Occupy the castlemount means: at the end of the game there should be a unit with a unit strength of at least 5 be present on top of the castlemount and no single enemy miniature present on the castlemount.

Battle nr 3: Kill the heretic
Brunonas enters Lithuania and tries to baptize the inhabitants. The inhabitants are not very friendly to the strangers and want to have some fun. All tribes decide to kill the Heretic. (After all he doesn‘t recognize the local gods so he is an Heretic. It is just from which point of view you are looking at it.) The first tribe who kill Brunonas is making history by putting Lithuania on the European map.

Situation: In the centre of the Table is placed Brunonas with 5 helpers. The first one who kills Brunonas gets 200 extra victory points. This unit are skirmishers, can only be killed and attacked by infantry. (According to the written story: he was not killed by an arrow) Every model has the following statistics:
WS: 3, S: 4, T: 4, W: 1 (Brunonas 2), A: 1, Armour save 5+, Ward save 5+, Unbreakable. It is not possible to directs directly to Brunonas.(as to a campion or a character). First the whole unit should be killed and than you can kill Brunonas.
In case Brunonas and his unit is sandwiched between two units, Brunonas has no front or rear side. He is alway fighting to the front. In case of a fight the other player throws the dice for Brunonas and his helpers.
The army who really kills Brunonas gets the points


Battle nr 4. Hooray, we are on the map op Europe.

After killing Brunonas Lithuania is finally on the map of Europe. This immediatly meant the beginning of the end for the unique Lithuanian world. The Lithuanian tribe leaders quickly understood that if they want to survive they had to unite. According to the Lithuanian tradition of the first millenium diplomacy means war, unite means conquer. The best way to start negotiatians about uniting with other tribes is to kill the leader of the other tribe. In this way negotiations are much more easy.

Situation: Ordinary battle, with ordinary victory point calculation. Victory points as normal only in case you kill the enemies general you receive 400 victory points in stead of the ordinary 100.


Battle nr 5. The last battle

The civilized world is more and more pushing. More and more Lithuanians get an appearance which looks more and more like normal europeans. Skeletons don‘t come out of their grave anymore. In the end beginning of the 12th century the last battles of the old Lithuanian world were fought. After this, more human type of Lithuanians, who came out of the old horde of Chaos tribe won a few major battles and the era of Saules battle, Grand Dukes of Lithuania, Vytautas, Zalgiris and other boring things as we learned in school began.


Situation: Normal battle deployment. After deployment each player gets two objective markers and starting with the player who chose the playing side, each player must place an objective marking on the enemy board halve. At least 15 inch from each other, and 12 inch from the board edges.
Who controls in the end of the game an objective marker. (max 5 inch from the objective marker with a unit with a minimum unit strength of 5 and no enemy models in the 5 inch zone around the objective marker) receives 200 extra victory points. No victory points for table quarters, further victory point calculation as in the rulebook

Antra scenario nereikia uzimti su pestininkais. Galima uzimti su bet kokia unita. Skautus gali gal is karto uzimti piliakalni, bet turi tenai pabuti 6 turus. Pakankama laika jos isvyti arba nuzudyti.
Del 3 scenariju. Kiekviena armija turi galimybe paimti pestininkus ir laimeti taskus. Nemaciau ten problemu.;)

Tarkim mano mylima Empire. Paimam Arch Lector ir tris Warrior Priest - 5 "bound" spell'ai per magijos faze. Ar tai atitinka 3 power dice (1 prayer - 1 power dice, kiti 4 prayers sumoje - 2 power dice), ar visus leidziamus 9 (1 prayer - 1 power dice, kiti 4 prayers - po 2 power dice)?

I like the history basis, also the date is not bad, so it is quite possible that I will visit you guys

What I don't like, are magic restrictions - it is impossible to field a "normal" empire army (Archlector on altar, 2 or 3 mages), and 9 PD compared to 10 DD on a 2250point battle are nearly useless and thus making everyone to field offensive, non-magic army...

But that's only my opinion ;-)

Well in my opinion there should be 11 power dice a turn not nine because there wont be any players who will use magic well except Tomb kings and also Vampire counts...
